'Coffee & Lyrics' presented by Freo Groove

  • Hybrid Warehouse 5b Quarry Street Fremantle, WA, 6160 Australia (map)

Love to listen to top quality live music up close,  in an intimate setting?

Well, why not start your Sunday at “Hybrid Warehouse” in Fremantle, for a series of regular gatherings showcasing the best musicians around.

This third show in the series offers a unique insight into the dynamic duo of Dave Johnson and Carus Thompson - two of the state’s top singer songwriters.

Dave and Carus have a rare chemistry. Dave moved to the west as a young man, a believer in the power of song, with a determination to carve out a living from music and his ideas about the world. He has gone on to do that and made some beautiful and extraordinary records. Along the way he met the young and talented Carus Thompson who went on to make his own great records and tour the world. In the decades since meeting, they’ve both had  solo careers, notable for splendid and intelligent songs, but also a unique and productive partnership. They are high energy, instinctive  performers who play off each other brilliantly.

Our guest poet this month is the wonderful Kaya Ortiz, winner of the prestigious Dorothy Hewitt award for 2024 for her poetry collection Past & Parallel Lives.

Local Folk duo Sea Swallow, will set the mood, with a few songs and then it’s into the show. Get there early to grab a coffee and a comfy couch near the stage.
